TUF Master Plan represents a collaboration of three institutions—The Urban Farm (TUF, the non-profit property manager), the Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC, TUF’s collaborative partner), and the City of Denver Parks and Recreation Department (DPR, the property owner). The project navigates the complex needs of a range of human and non-human occupants across a 23 acre site. Learning from both humans and non-humans, the Master Plan took precedent from Kevin Lynch’s Primary Elements, used for navigating the legibility of urban environments, as well as the Five Freedoms, which enhance the meaning and experience of all animals’ lives. Together these strategies brought about a plan which integrates the experience of the humans who visit and work at the Farm and the welfare and happiness of the animals who live there.
